NEW YORK, N.Y. - Metta World Peaces dream homecoming lasted less than a season, with the New York Knicks waiving the veteran forward and Beno Udrih on Monday after buying out their contracts. World Peace finally got his wish to play for the Knicks when he signed last summer, but he never gained a place in Mike Woodsons rotation and appeared in just 29 games before asking for his release. "It was a childhood dream of mine to play basketball professionally in New York City, and it has truly been a blessing for that dream to have come true. However, under current circumstances, my agent and I have agreed that being bought out would be the best option for me professionally," the New York native said in a statement. "I would like everyone to know that whether I was on the court or off, I could not have been happier playing for and cheering on this amazing city, my city." The moves were announced Monday before the Knicks hosted the Dallas Mavericks. By getting waived this week, both veterans will be able to sign with another team and be eligible for the playoffs. World Peace, who grew up in Queensbridge and starred at St. Johns when he was still Ron Artest, missed nearly all of January due to a procedure on his left knee. He played seven minutes Friday in a loss at Orlando, and then wrote on his Twitter page on Saturday that his agent was working on a buyout. Udrih, who also signed last summer, had 12 starts among his 31 appearances. "We are disappointed that it did not work out for Beno and Metta here in New York," Knicks general manager Steve Mills said. "We thank them for their contributions this season and wish them well." Woodson said he and Mills would talk Tuesday about adding players. Woodson said he thought the Knicks needed a guard to defend on the perimeter, and another big man with Andrea Bargnani and Kenyon Martin injured. Alex Iwobi Arsenal Jersey . But back-up Peter Budaj has put up two wins and an overtime loss while starting three games in four nights since Price went down with a suspected groin injury. Jeff Reine-Adelaide Arsenal Jersey . The announcement was made by the hall on Friday, March 14.  She joins Switzerlands Denise Biellmann as this years inductees to the Hall, based in Colorado Springs, CO. http://www.footballarsenalstore.com/Wome...Fc-Jersey/. Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Steve Mason, Philadelphia (4) - Mason was brilliant all night long with save after big save on Benoit Pouliot, Carl Hagelin and Derick Brassard. Lucas Perez Jersey . It was the most lopsided loss in Lakers history. Darren Collison had a team-high 24 points while starting at shooting guard for the injured Jamal Crawford. Chris Paul added 13 points and 11 assists for the Clippers, who apparently are trying to make up for decades of humiliation at the hands of the Lakers all in one season; theyve won the last two meetings by a combined 84 points. Olivier Giroud Jersey . Modin, 36, tallied seven goals and three assists in 36 games with the Thrashers this season. The Sundsvall, Sweden, native has posted 232 goals and 230 assists in 894 career NHL games with Toronto, Tampa Bay, Columbus, Los Angeles and Atlanta and has appeared in 57 post-season contests, helping the Lightning capture the 2004 Stanley Cup Championship.Lets talk about the process of teaching things in football. Whether it is a blitz or a new pass pattern, there is many different processes that coaches go through to teach it. Many coaches differ in how they go about teaching but lets talk about some things that are done when installing a concept.   Lets talk about the install of a pass concept. First you would hand out a sheet diagramming the play usually drawn up on a computer program with any descriptions written in. This would usually be drawn on a football field and would show where the receivers align in relationship to the landmarks on the football field - hashes, sidelines. The coach sometimes will then draw the play on a dry erase board or smart board versus the three top coverages you are expecting, talk about the releases and adjustments against various coverages if they are any. Some teams change routes on the fly based on coverage looks. A video would then be shown of this concept if it has previously been run so the players can see it being executed in a game situation. Also, the coach would put up defences the opponent has shown that would help the players visualize the success of the concept.   When you get on the practice field you will usually walk through the concept and the alignment on the field, and a little later the play will be practised full speed with the quarterbacks and receivers to get the exact timing and drop mechanics down for the QB.dddddddddddd The play will then be practised against the defense allowing the receivers and quarterback to work against other players who are reacting to them and the football. Sometimes this play will also be run in a team session with all twelve players to make sure the protection is timed up and worked on.    After practice the coaches will then review the film and analyze the execution of the pass concept and take notes for their players about the play. The following day in meetings the players will be able to see all the repetitions of that pass concept and see video of themselves practising it.    As you can see that when you have many players, you always have to cover your bases on how you teach them. So people have to see it in a classroom others need a walk through to understand and some players have to rep things many times. I have coached a few players that can execute with little or no practice.    Repetition is, I believe, a key for being able to do things well. As you can see, coaches go to great lengths to install the plays you see on the field on gameday. SUNRISE, Fla. - It took a record effort by Sergei Bobrovsky to preserve a win for the Columbus Blue Jackets.Bobrovsky made a franchise-record and career-high 52 saves and Ryan Johansen scored the winning goal in a shootout to lift the Blue Jackets to a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. He (Bobrovsky) stole this one, without question, Columbus coach Todd Richards said. He was tremendous in the game. Hes the only reason why we got two points.Boone Jenner, Cam Atkinson and Nick Foligno scored in regulation for the Blue Jackets.Nick Bjugstad had two goals and an assist for the Panthers. Tomas Fleischmann had a goal and an assist and Roberto Luongo made 17 saves.Johansens shot went over Luongos right shoulder in the fourth round of the shootout for the only score in the tiebreaker. The 55 shots were a season-high for the Panthers and also the most ever given up by Columbus. Bobrovsky also stopped four shootout attempts.I?cant remember most of the shots, Bobrovsky said Were happy to get the two points. Its important for us.Bobrovsky was forced to face so many shots because the Blue Jackets offence disappeared after scoring early in the second.Bobrovsky stole us a couple of points tonight. We definitely didnt deserve to win, Johansen said. Right now we need points and we got two points, so well take them.Leading 2-0, the Blue Jackets stretched their lead to three early in the second on Jenners goal. Luongo blocked a shot by Atkinson but Jenner fired in the rebound at 51 seconds. After that, the Blue Jackets were outshot 38-7 in the second and third periods.I?think we had the momentum for the first couple of minutes (in the second period)?and it seemed like we just kind of fell asleep, Atkinson said. Thank God for (Bobrovsky). The Blue Jackets won for the second time in eight games and stretched their win streak against Florida to 10 games. The Panthers havent beaten Columbus since Nov. 21, 2007.(We are) disappointed, but were down 3-0 and we battled back and we played a (heck of a) last two periods, Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. We really dominated and took control of the game and their goalie had to make some huge saves to get them the win. Anytime you get 55 shots you should win the game. It didnt happen tonight. The Panthers scored three goals in a span of 4:37 in the second period to tie it.Fleischmann scored on a 2-on-1 at 2:54. Jonathan Huberdeau passed across to Fleischmann in the right circle and his slap shot went over Bobrovskys left shoulder to get Florida on the scoreboard.Bjugstad scored the next two goals. His soft wrist shot got past Bobrovsky at 5:04 to make it 3-2. Bjugstads second goal came during a power play as his shot from the left side of the net hit a Columbus players skate and went in at 7:31 to tie it.We came back, did a good job, said Bjugstad, who leads the Panthers with 10 goals. Everyone bought in there in those last two periods. The Blue Jackets took a 1-0 lead 1:07 into the game. Dalton Prout shot from the point and the puck bounced out. Foligno took the loose puck, skated around the net and scored on a wraparound. The Blue Jackets went ahead 2-0 later in the first on a breakaway by Atkinson. The puck got by a Panthers defenceman and Atkinson grabbed the puck, skated in on Luongo, and beat him gloveside at 9:51.NOTES: Panthers C Aleksander Barkov missed his second game with a hand injury. ... Thats the date Real Salt Lake visits BC Place, and its the night the Vancouver Whitecaps will surely look forward to after Saturdays 1-1 draw in the teams second memorable matchup this season. A questionable foul led to a Darren Mattocks goal for Vancouver and set off a 30-minute flurry that saw both teams go nose-to-nose and force action from end-to-end. "Real Salt Lake might be a new rival of ours," Vancouver coach Carl Robinson said with a smile. "Weve got a small team, but theyre willing to fight for the jersey and the camaraderie and the spirit theyve got is fantastic." In the teams first meeting Apr. 26, Vancouver erased a 2-0 deficit with two goals in the final eight minutes to stun the MLS Cup runner-up. Saturday, tempers were hotter than the hot desert air. A hard tackle on Mattocks by RSLs Nat Borchers led to a penalty kick and the games first goal in the 73rd minute. It was Mattocks second penalty kick goal of the Whitecaps road trip and his third goal this season. "Thats up to the referee to make the decision whether to give the PK or not," said Mattocks. "Its my job to help the team win games." A scrum broke out at midfield after the goal, and resulted in yellow cards for Sebastian Fernandez and Matias Laba. Goalkeeper David Ousted drew a yellow card moments later after he argued for a more severe penalty on RSL defender Tony Beltran after a hard foul on Fernandez. "Its a tough place to play," said Ousted, who recorded three saves. "They are a good team, and we need to bee smart about it.dddddddddddd. I think we got under their skin a bit and it creates drama. "We showed well stick up for each other. Thats the way its supposed to be for a team. Normally, I like when we can get away from the fights and not get into them, but well stick up for each other." The lead was short-lived, though, and this time it was the home team with some late magic to draw even. Joao Plata sprinted past Steven Beitashour toward the left corner, then fired low to the far post, out of Ousteds reach in the 81st minute. It was Salt Lakes first open goal (non-set piece) in more than 400 minutes. "We couldnt let them dictate too much of the game," said Ousted. "I thought we did really well. If we had been a little bit luckier, we might have gotten away with three points, but we werent. 1-1 is probably a fair result." The teams exchanged chances into stoppage time, with Salt Lake twice nearly pulling out the victory. Luke Mulhollands bicycle kick sailed over the crossbar in the 83rd minute, and Ousted collided with a rushing Robbie Findlay in stoppage time to thwart a fast-break chance. Vancouver earned a point for the fifth time in its past six road matches. Real Salt Lake fell to 1-4-2 after starting the season unbeaten in its first 12 matches. Robinson mixed up his starting lineup to get fresh legs in against an attacking RSL front, and for a team playing its second road game in four days. Omar Salgado and Medhi Ballouchy earned their first starts of the season and Erik Hurtado and Russell Teibert earned some well-deserved rest. The Whitecaps now have a full week off before hosting FC Dallas on July 27. ' ' '

NEW YORK -- MLS commissioner Don Garber has came out in support of Toronto FCs complaints over a refereeing call that cost it two points in Chicago last weekend. A potential winning goal in the 90th minute by Torontos Gilberto was called off by Canadian referee David Gantar who said later the Brazilian forward was guilty of a pushing foul. The game ended at 1-1. "That referee did not get it right in that game, and we shouldnt be ashamed of saying that," Garber said Thursday. "I feel for Toronto FC." The commissioner said he had expressed his concerns to Peter Walton, general manager of the Professional Referee Organization. Garber also said the league is reviewing Toronto midfielder Michael Bradleys post-game criticism of Gantar. "Michael is the leader of that club," Foxsports.com quoted Garber as saying after unveiling the new MLS logo in New York. "Hes been an asset to the league. I have tremendous respect for him. Well take a close look at it and see if there is any discipline required. But I understand and sympathize with his frustration." Cesar Azpilicueta Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. Tiemoue Bakayoko Jersey . Hentgen spent 10 of his 14 big-league seasons with the Blue Jays, winning a Cy Young Award in 1996. MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade has made his choice. Chris Bosh is still mulling his. Either way, free agency for the Miami Heat is shaping up as an absolute circus. Wade told the Heat on Saturday that he is opting out of the final two years and nearly $42 million in his contract, and will become a free agent on Tuesday -- the same decision that LeBron James revealed earlier in the week. Also Saturday, Udonis Haslem told the Heat that he will not pick up his $4.6 million option for next season. But Bosh is still weighing his options, agent Henry Thomas told The Associated Press, after a miscommunication earlier in the day suggested that the forward was already sold on the idea of opting out. "Chris has not decided yet," Thomas told AP early Saturday evening. Strange as it may sound, the decisions by James and now Wade and Haslem are considered good for the Heat, since those three moves alone free up about $45 million in what would have been salary Miami was committed to paying next season. If Bosh opts out, that figure goes to $66 million, and the idea of not having that locked into the books gives Miami tons of flexibility to lure their stars back into new deals -- plus have enough money left over to make additional roster upgrades. "Today we were notified of Dwyanes intention to opt-out of his contract and Udonis intention to not opt into his contract, making both players free agents," Heat President Pat Riley said. "Dwyane has been the cornerstone of our organization for over a decade, and we hope he remains a part of the Heat family for life. Udonis has been the heartbeat of this team for 11 years. He has sacrificed countless times to make this organization successful, and he is the epitome of what this organization stands for. "We look forward to meeting with Dwyane and Udonis and their agent in the coming days to discuss our future together." So now, all eyes turn to Bosh, who was part of the much-celebrated move Miami made four years ago to team up with James and Wade with the Heat. Theyve been together for four years, and have been to the NBA Finals in each, winning the title twice. "We want this to work out and I think well find a way to get it done," Bosh told The Associated Press shortly after the Heat fell in the NBA Finals earlier this month to the San Antonio Spurs. Haslem expressed the same sentiment.dddddddddddd "We all want the same thing around here," Haslem said at the end of the season. Regardless of what Bosh decides, midnight Tuesday -- the start of free agent frenzy -- will be busy for Miami. James and Wade could be wooed by plenty of suitors. James has already been mentioned as a target of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Chicago Bulls, the Houston Rockets -- and, of course, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team for whom he spent his first seven seasons. But things are already looking good for Miami, which got the rights to former Connecticut guard Shabazz Napier on draft night -- and Napier just happened to be James favourite player in the draft. Wade, James and Bosh all had deals with an option to become free agents either this summer or next. Theres obviously no guarantee that all or any would return to the Heat now, but its also hard to envision all three going their separate ways after making four trips to the NBA Finals together and winning two championships. "Weve got a lot of room for flexibility," Riley said as the off-season was starting. "There is a tremendous amount of flexibility depending on what happens. Were ready. Now, do I feel any pressure? No, I dont. I dont feel any pressure at all. Im going to do the best job that I can do and we will all do the best job we can do. I dont think we have to recruit Chris and LeBron and Dwyane again. "Im not dropping championship rings on the table for those guys," Riley added, referring to his famous recruiting trick from 2010. "They can drop their own." Wade took a considerable amount of criticism this past season, first for missing 28 regular-season games -- largely because of what the Heat called a maintenance program for his long-problematic knees -- and then for struggling in the NBA Finals. Wade averaged 24.3 points in his first 11 seasons and is unquestionably the most accomplished player in Heat history, leading the franchises all-time lists in several categories. Riley calls Wade "an icon" and remains sold on his value to a championship team, though acknowledges that at 32 and with plenty of injuries in his past, some continued evolution to his game -- and perhaps his role -- could be needed. "He does have pain but he doesnt have the debilitating injury that could end his career," Riley said. ' ' '

SEATTLE -- Everything that Clint Dempsey hoped would happen last year after his splashy signing with the Seattle Sounders is happening now. Dempsey scored twice in a five-minute span early in the second half and set up Lamar Neagles first-half goal to help the Seattle Sounders beat the Colorado Rapids 4-1 on Saturday. Dempsey leads MLS with eight goals. He has at least a goal or an assist in each of Seattles last six games. It is the second time in his career that Dempsey has had a six-game scoring streak in MLS, having done it previously in 2005 while with the New England Revolution. "The year I scored 23 with Fulham, I was on a pretty good run there, but it feels good," Dempsey said. "Were in a good rhythm as a team, we have a good locker room, and it think that shows on the field in our play." After Dempsey joined the Sounders last August, expectations for him and the team soared. But in nine games, he scored only one goal, and Seattles late-season swoon ended with another early playoff exit. Now, the Sounders have won three straight to improve to 5-2-1, thanks in large part to Dempsey. "When I first came, I felt like there werent too many games where I could look back and say, You know what? I had a lot of chances, I should have scored," Dempsey said. "I feel like in games now, Im getting good looks and looks that are allowing me to put the ball into the back of the net. I have to compliment my teammates on that. I feel like were playing better right now than we were toward the end of last season." Added Sounders coach Sigi Schmid, "I dont know what the records are for so many goals in so many games, but he might be setting some of those." Obafemi Martins added a 75th-minute goal for Seattle. Dillon Serna scored in the 62nd minute for the Rapids (3-2-2). Dempsey and Martins (who tallied his third) have accounted for 11 of the Sounders 17 goals. "Whether it six against six or eight against eight in practice, we try to put them on the same team where they look for each other and find each other," Schmid said, "and you see it showing now in games." Neagles blast 2 yards in front of a wide-open net gave the Sounders a 1-0 lead 15 seconds into the only minute of first-half stoppage time, and was his third goal of the year. Dempsey made it 2-0 at the outset of the 47th minute, running onto a loose ball at the top of 6-yard box that Colorado goalkeeper Clint Irwin had slapped away, but couldnt latch onto. Early in the 52nd minute, Chad Marshall headed Gonzalo Pinedas corner kick toward Dempsey, and Dempsey headed it in just over Irwins reach. Neagle assisted on the goal by Martins, which was his third goal of the season. Colorado came in with back-to-back shutouts and had allowed just five goals all season until yielding the four on Saturday. The Sounders outshot the Rapids, 20-10. "The two guys up top (Dempsey and Martins) really made a difference," Rapids coach Pablo Mastoeni said. "Dempsey caused us a bit of grief. And again, if youre not good with the ball, youre going to end up defending. Against a team like this, you definitely dont want to be defending deep in your half as we found ourselves for the majority of the game. "With the type of players they have, it just puts a lot of pressure on our defence and forced a lot of errors that led to the dismantling of the team," Mastoeni added. Calum Chambers Jersey .ca. PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - No matter what the New York Mets think, Matt Harvey is convinced he can pitch at some point this season. The Mets ace had elbow ligament-replacement surgery Oct. 22 and hasnt thrown a baseball from more than 60 feet off flat ground. New York doesnt expect him to return until 2015. Harvey says "I still have in my mind that I want to come back this year, and whether the doctors clear that or the people upstairs have other ideas, my mindset as a competitor is to get back on the field." Harvey went 9-5 with a 2.27 ERA and was the NL starter in last years All-Star game at Citi Field. The team announced Aug. 26 that the right-hander had partially torn his ulnar collateral ligament. Brandon Belt added an RBI single for the Giants, who had tied the score at 1 when Brandon Hicks homered off Josh Beckett in the seventh. J.P. Howell (1-3) issued a one-out walk in the 11th to Angel Pagan, who advanced on a wild pitch by Jamey Wright before the right-hander walked Hunter Pence and Buster Posey. Sanchez, who came in 1 for 10 as a pinch-hitter with seven strikeouts, flied out to the warning track in right field to drive in Pagan. Belt followed with a single to make it 3-1. Santiago Casilla (1-0) pitched 1 1-3 innings for the win, striking out Yasiel Puig with a runner at second to end the eighth before throwing a perfect ninth. Sergio Romo got three outs for his 11th save in as many chances. Ryan Vogelsong yielded one run and five hits through 7 1-3 innings in his seventh start and third against the defending NL West champion Dodgers. The other two were San Francisco victories in which he did not get the decision. The Giants are 5-0 in Vogelsongs last five starts against the Dodgers, and hes had a no-decision in all of them. Beckett continued to pitch well despite little run support. The three-time All-Star went 6 2-3 innings, allowing a run and five hits. It was the fifth straight start in which the Dodgers scored fewer than three runs while Beckett was in the game, leaving him with a loss and four no-decisions. He iss 0-6 with a 4.dddddddddddd.12 ERA in 14 starts since his last victory on Sept. 30, 2012, when he beat Colorado 7-1 at Dodger Stadium. Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe left the game because of soreness in his right hamstring. He grounded into an inning-ending double play in the seventh and played one more inning in the field. Los Angeles opened the scoring in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Drew Butera. Hicks homered to left field in the seventh to end a 4-for-30 skid, after striking out his first two times up. It was his sixth home run this season, doubling the total he had in 90 at-bats over the previous three years with Atlanta and Oakland. Beckett walked three of his first seven batters, equaling his total in 19 2-3 innings over his previous three starts combined. CHICAGO -- Buster Posey went 4 for 4 with his 14th homer, leading Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night. Pablo Sandoval added three hits and two RBIs as the Giants rebounded from a 2-1 loss earlier in the day in the resumption of their suspended game in the series opener. Bumgarner (14-9) struck out 12 in seven innings. He allowed three runs and seven hits. The long day started with a rain delay of 1 hour, 57 minutes, and then the Cubs and Giants played the final 4 1/2 innings of a game the Cubs thought they had won 2-0 on Tuesday night. A short rainstorm caused a delay of more than 4 1/2 hours after the grounds crew struggled with the tarp. The umpires said the field was unplayable and called it at 1:16 a.m. But the Giants protested, and Major League Baseball ruled that the tarp had not been properly put away after its previous use. The game was suspended. It was the first successful protest in MLB since 1986. Anthony Rizzos two-run homer from Tuesday held up for Chicago. Joe Panik had an RBI single in the sixth to pull the Giants to 2-1, but Pedro Strop worked the eighth and Hector Rondon got three outs for his 19th save in 23 opportunities. Tuesdays starters proved to be the pitchers of record. Tsuyoshi Wada (3-1) earned the victory for the Cubs, while Ryan Vogelsong (7-9) took the loss. Chicago then got off to a fast start in the nightcap. Justin Ruggiano and Welington Castillo hit back-to-back homers in the first to give the Cubs a 3-1 lead. But San Francisco grabbed the lead for good on Poseys leadoff drive to left in the fifth against Travis Wood (7-11). Michael Morse added a sacrifice fly in the seventh that made it 5-3. Wood (7-11) gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings. The left-hander is 0-6 with a 5.45 ERA in his last 12 starts. Touted Cubs prospect Javier Baez struck out four times, including with two out and two runners in scoring position in the seventh inning. Through 71 big league at-bats, Baez has struck out 31 times. Santiago Casilla worked a scoreless ninth for his 11th save in 14 opportunities. TRAINERS ROOM Cubs: RHP Edwin Jackson was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right lat strain. Jackson dealt with a similar injury at the end of last season and hopes that by going on the DL now, he will be able to pitch again in September. ... SS Starlin Castro was placed on the bereavement list after leaving the team for a family emergency. Giants: INF Ehire Adrianza has been slow to recover from a second strained groin injury, which raises doubts about his status in the final weeks of the season. "Hes not ready yet, so thats another decision well have to make," manager Bruce Bochy said. ... Bochy was optimistic that 1B Brandon Belt and C Hector Sanchez would recover from concussions in time for the stretch drive. Shawn Evans scored a pair of goals in a special 10-minute mini-game as the Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Edmonton Rush 2-1 on Friday night to advance to the NLLs final. The Roughnecks came into the night holding a 1-0 series lead thanks to a 12-11 overtime victory in Calgary last Saturday. However, the Rush were able to hang on for a 15-13 win in Game 2, sending the series to the extra mini-game to decide the series. Calgary got on board first in the mini-game as Evans had Rush goalie Aaron Bold going the other way with a shot two minutes in and then added another goal a minute later to give the Roughnecks at 2-0 lead. Edmonton finally scored in the extra match with 1:39 to play with a goal by Zack Greer, but Calgary was able to kill the clock from there. "You never know what to expect in a short overtime game like that," Evans said. "Im just so proud of how we never quit on the night, even when things didnt look very good. We stuck together and now we are heading to the championship. It feels good." The Roughnecks actually trailed 11-2 at one point in the full-length game, but came roaring back and gave themselves the momentum heading into the extra match-up. "This is one of the greatest feelings of my life," said Calgary goalie Mike Poulin. "It was a hell of a night. I am really well of the way we responded and the way we played after the first half of the first game. We let it slip away for a bit, but we showed a lot of character and played a good 40 minutes after that to win the West." Poulins coach agreed. "The big thing was to grind them down and remember who we are," said Roughnecks head coach Curt Malawsky. "It wasnt an easy game and I am very proud of our guys. They were all over us. It was just one goal at a time and then you start believing a bit. Then it is one loose ball or one save or a faceoff. It showed a lot when you could have easily mailed it in and play for another day, but the guys wouldnt do that. We have a special group here and we are excited to be playing again next week." Calgary will now wait to see if their opponent will be the Rochester Knighthawks or the Buffalo Bandits when the two teams finish their series on Saturday night. It was the first home playoff date in the nine-year history of the Edmonton Rush, who won the NLLs regular-season title with a 16-2 record. "In the extra time, we out-played them, we out-chanced them. We had our opportunities," said Rush head coach and GM Derek Keenan "Its a crappy way to end our season, but thats the way it ended and its hard to swallow, thats for sure." Bold certainly isnt a fan of the new NLL playoff format. "I think its just ridiculous that 10 minutes decides the East or West Division, as well as a Champions Cup," he said. &quuot; That needs to be switched around to a full game because thats a little bit of a joke.dddddddddddd. I may be saying that because were on the short end of the stick, but realistically thats not a way to win. But Calgary won and hats off to them." Things actually looked like they were going to go Edmontons way to start the night. The Rush took a 2-0 lead in the nights first game with a pair of quick goals bookended around the five-minute mark of the first quarter, as Mark Matthews and Greer got shots past Poulin. Calgary responded with its first goal midway through the opening frame, as Evans scored on the Roughnecks first shot of the game on Bold. Edmonton made it 3-1 as Bold sent defender Nik Bilic on a breakaway and he made good on the opportunity. Calgary cut the lead to a goal, but the Rush came storming back with an impressive five goals in a 90-second span, including the second of the game for both Matthews and Greer, to lead 8-2 with three minutes to play in the first. The five goals in a minute-and-a-half set a new NLL record. The Rush outshot Calgary 18-6 in the first, with their eight goals tying a team record for the most goals in a quarter. Edmonton kept coming to start the second as Curtis Knight scored a short-handed goal just 23 seconds in. The Rush struck twice more in the first five minutes of the second to make it 11-2, prompting the Roughnecks to replace Poulin in net with backup Frankie Scigliano. Calgary finally stopped Edmontons run of eight goals in a row with four straight of its own, before Edmonton finally got one back for a 12-6 lead at the half. Poulin returned to the Calgary net for the second half. The third goals of the game from Evans and Dane Dobbie allowed Calgary to close the score to 14-10 heading into the fourth quarter. The Roughnecks kept coming and notched a pair of goals to close the score to 14-12 four minutes into the fourth. Scott Ranger scored with just over five minutes to go to make it a one-goal game, but the Rush were able to hang on for dear life and put the game away with an empty-net goal from Bilic to give them the 15-13 win and force the mini-game to decide the series. Notes: It was the third time that the two Alberta-based team have met in the NLL playoffs. The Rush won the two previous post-season encounters, emerging victorious in one-game West Division semifinals in both 2010 and 2012a Edmonton won the season series between the two teams for the first time in franchise history, going 3-1. However, Calgary handed the Rush their lone loss at home this yeara Edmonton finished the regular season as the NLLs top team with a record of 16-2, while Calgary was second in the West at 12-6a The Roughnecks 12-11 overtime win in the first game of the series was a bit contentious as the Rush claimed Jeff Shattlers game tying goal in the final minute shouldnt have counted due to an unreviewed crease violationa The announced attendance in Edmonton was 9,120. YEONGAM, South Korea -- Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettels relentless push toward a seemingly inevitable fourth-straight Formula One drivers championship continued with a victory at the Korean Grand Prix on Sunday. Even two safety-car periods, the emergence of a truck on the circuit mid-race and the incineration of his teammates car were not enough to put off the German, who made it a hat-trick of wins in Korea, and a fourth successive victory overall. The Red Bull ace led throughout to win by 4.2 seconds ahead of the Lotus pair of Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. Nearest title rival Fernando Alonso was sixth, stretching Vettels lead in the championship to 77 points with only five races remaining, meaning he could wrap up the title at next weekends Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. If Vettel wins in Japan, and Alonso finishes worse than eighth, the German will join his compatriot Michael Schumacher and Juan-Manuel Fangio as the only men to win four successive titles. "Even though it looks very good for us, its still not over," Vettel said. "Im not trying to think about it to be honest, Im focusing more on the present. "I am really enjoying things at the moment, we have a great team and we are having a great time as well." Saubers Nico Hulkenberg put in a superb defensive drive over the last 17 laps by holding off a queue of world champions behind him after the second safety-car period ended, finishing fourth to equal his career best. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was fifth, just holding off Alonso on the last lap. Mercedes Nico Rosberg took seventh by passing eighth-placed Jenson Button of McLaren in the closing stages. Ferraris Felipe Massa was ninth and McLarens Sergio Perez rounded out the top ten. Vettel, who has now led after every lap of four-straight races, again got away well from pole position and avoided the chaos on turn three, at the exit of the main straight. Massa spun and made contact with teammate Alonso, who was able to continue, while Button and Force Indias Adrian Sutil also had collisions that forced them to pit. Vettel led Grosjean by 2.1 seconds after the first lap but he was not able to pull away from the field as comfortably as he had in recent races, with the Frenchman clinging on and within 3.4 seconds when the leaders started to pit after nine laps. The championship leader extended that to 5.1 seconds by mid-distance from Grosjean, who had ably held off Hamilton in their battle after the first stops. Hamiltons rubber soon started to degrade and he fell back toward teammate Rosberg, but as soon as the German passed the Briton, his front wing failed and drooped to the ground, leaving Rosberg driving in a sea of sparks. The safety car emerged on lap 31 following a spectacular tire failure on the front right wheel of Perezs McLaren, with the tread suddenly shearing off and landing in the middle of the main straight. The racing had only resumed for a lap when Force Indias Adrian Sutil spun into the Red Bull of Mark Webber at the end of the main straight, causing the Australians car to burst into flames. With the safety car only having just come in, the field rounded onto the straight at full speed on the next lap only to see a fire marshalls truck trundling down the track toward the fire, acting as a de-facto safety car before the real one could take up the job. "It looked like a BMW. I think it was a Hyundai or Kia SUV. You want the number plate?" joked Vettel. In the one lap between the two yellow-flag periods, Raikkonen had got past Grosjean, but the Finn was unable to keep up with Vettel upon resumption, trailing by 1.4 seconds after one lap and consistently losing time from then on. Grosjean said the two safety-car periods helped Vettel, suggesting that without them, the two Lotus cars would have been able to manage their tires better over a long last stint and challenge the leader. "It seems that every time there will be a battle with Seb, theres a safety car coming," Grosjean said. "The last stints would have been pretty epic without the safety car ... it would have been close." TORONTO -- It was a game Dwane Casey figures the Toronto Raptors lose two months ago. Reeling from an 18-3 run by the Brooklyn Nets to start the second half, Toronto was down 10 points against a team looking to win its season-high sixth straight game. But rather than rollover, the Raptors fought back, showed what their head coach called newfound "mental toughness" and coasted to a comfortable 96-80 victory before a sellout crowd of 19,800 at Air Canada Centre. "I think our guys showed mental toughness and won a slug out game which I dont know if we could have won a few months ago, no less last year," Casey said of the Raptors second straight win, which gave them a four-game lead over the Nets atop the NBAs Atlantic Division. "Its a testament to our guys mental growth and mental toughness to win a game like that." After Brooklyn built its biggest lead of the night at 10 points at the midway mark of the third quarter, the Raptors went on a 28-5 run over the next 10:33 to secure their seventh win in their last nine games. After 35 games, the Raptors are 18-17. At this point last season, Toronto was 13-22. "Guys are growing up," Casey said when asked to explain the difference in the Raptors this season from last. "Theyre getting tired of me preaching physicality, dont get knocked down in a street fight." Leading the way for the Raptors was DeMar DeRozan, who poured in a game-high 26 points. Terrence Ross added 14 points for the Raptors while Patrick Patterson had 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Raptors took a 47-42 lead into the halftime break on the strength of 11 first-half points from Ross, who hit half of Torontos six three-pointers in the opening 24 minutes. Torontoo, which shot an anaemic 38.dddddddddddd6 per cent from the field in the first half, led by as many as 13 points in the second quarter but the Nets continued to fight back. But then the visitors took over the game -- and silenced the boisterous crowd celebrating Drake Night in honour of the hometown rapper and Raptors global ambassador -- before Toronto regained control. After Brooklyns Shaun Livingston hit a six-foot jump shot to restore the Nets 10-point lead with 4:54 to go in the quarter, the Raptors scored 16 of the final 18 points to close it out. DeRozan scored the final seven points of the third quarter, capping it with a 25-foot three-pointer. The Raptors then went on a 10-1 run to open the fourth quarter and put the game away. "We stayed patient. We knew they were going to make a run, especially in the second half," DeRozan said. "We stayed disciplined, understood we had to get stops, rebound the ball and push it. "If Ive got to step up to win, Im going to do as much as I can." In addition to praising the "big time" performance by DeRozan, Casey also lauded the contributions of Patterson and John Salmons -- who came over as part of the trade for Rudy Gay -- to the teams toughness. The Raptors win ended a five-game win streak for Brooklyn (15-22). "Well, it was an important game," said Toronto guard Kyle Lowry, who had 12 points. "Every game we play is important. We cant take any game for granted. "It was really important with them being a divisional team and them playing really well now. We needed to get this win for our confidence." The Raptors close out their three-game homestand against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night. ' ' '

BARCELONA, Spain - Kei Nishikori of Japan beat Colombias Santiago Giraldo 6-2, 6-2 to win the Barcelona Open on Sunday for his first career title on clay. Giraldo started well with an early break but an argument with the chair umpire about a line call seemed to rattle the unseeded player. Shortly afterward, Giraldo failed to reach Nishikoris drop shot before hitting a costly double-fault to cede back his serve. The fourth-seeded Nishikori went on to win eight straight games to claim the first set and take control of the match. He ended up converting five of seven break chances while Giraldo committed five double faults. Nishikori said he hopes his maiden win on clay will carry over to upcoming tournaments and the French Open. "This title and (my showing in) Miami helped my confidence, especially this week on clay," said Nishikori. "There are three big tournaments coming up in Madrid, Rome and Roland Garros so I hope I can do well and increase my (ranking) points. My next goal is to get to the top 10." It was Nishikoris fifth career title on all surfaces and his second of the year. This is the first time a non-Spaniard has won the tournament at the Real Club de Tenis since 1996. Rafael Nadal won the tournament eight times during that period. Nishikori is coached by former French Open winner Michael Chang and Dante Bottini. "I was good on clay when I was little," Nishikori said. "I was winning all the European juniors events. Now its much tougher than hard courts and I was struggling a bit, but Ive been playing well these past couple years so theres no fear to play on clay." Sergio Ramos Jersey . ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles Angels hitting coach Don Baylor broke his right leg while catching Vladimir Guerreros ceremonial first pitch Monday night. Baylor will have surgery Tuesday on his right femur. The injury cast a pall over opening day at Angel Stadium. Baylor, who joined the Angels coaching staff in the off-season, had to be helped off the field after squatting to catch Guerreros off-target throw. Baylor was taken to a hospital before the Angels 10-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Don right now," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Obviously its a freak (injury). Well see how it turns out." Baylor couldnt stand up after Guerreros throw, his right leg bending awkwardly beneath him while he was held up by Guerrero, who initially thought Baylor was kidding around. Two team employees helped Baylor to the dugout, leaving the Angels in disbelief on the field. "It got me sick when I was warming up and hearing what happened in the dugout," said Mike Trout, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning. The 64-year-old Baylor is a survivor of multiple myeloma, a cancer that attacks bone marrow. He was diagnosed with the cancer in 2003, and he is active in fundraising efforts to combat the disease. Baylor, the former manager of the Rockies and Cubs, left the Arizona Diamondbacks in the off-season to return to Anaheim, where he played six seasons with the California Angels. He replaced Jim Eppard as the Angels hitting coach last October. Los Angeles also hired assistant hitting coach Dave Hansen, who was the Mariners hitting coach last season. Baylor and Guerrero are the only AL MVPs in Angels franchise history. Baylor won the award in 1979 during arguably the best season of his 19-year major league career with seven teams. The former fourthh-round pick of the Eagles has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.dddddddddddd In four career appearances, Kafka went 11-16 for 107 yards and two interceptions. ' ' '
